Côte Brasserie | Newcastle | Pre Theatre Menu Review

Côte Brasserie | Newcastle | Pre Theatre Menu Review

We recently went to Newcastle Theatre Royal to see Peter Pan Goes Wrong and decided to check out the pre-theatre Prix Fixe Menu at Côte Brasserie.

We have dined at Côte Brasserie before and it is one of our favourite restaurants in Newcastle.

If you show your Theatre Royal ticket when you are seated you will get a free glass of bubbly with each ticket.

The Prix Fixe menu is available Monday to Friday from 12pm throughout February and March. Priced at £14.95 for 2 courses and £18.95 for three courses.

Considering the quality of the food this is an absolute bargain. You can see the full Prix Fixe menu here.

I decided to start with the Salmon Fish cake which was a brilliant starter. Delicious filling with a breadcrumb coating that was so crispy. The surprise star of this dish was the mustard sauce.

Sam went for the Pear and Walnut salad to start. This is one of her favourite salads so it was a no brainer for her.

The pickled pear was perfectly paired with the toasted walnuts with a Roquefort dressing to make a really fresh tasting starter.

We we're amazed to see that Steak Frites was an option on this menu so we had to go for that dish.

Sam ordered the Minute Steak but I decided to upgrade to Ribeye for an extra £5.00.

The Frites were so tasty and crunchy, I ordered my Steak Medium-Rare and it came perfectly cooked.

Both Steaks were served with Garlic Butter which for me is the perfect accompanyment to any steak.

We decided to go all out and get three courses. We were originally going to have half and half but when Sam tucked into the Plum Clafoutis she overruled me and decided it was all for her as it was so good.

As it was the day before Shrove Tuesday I went for the Crêpe au chocolat, which comes with warm chocolate sauce, blackberries and orange crème fraîche.

The Crêpe was surprising flavourful and the crème fraîche was subtley flavoured with orange. The chocolate sauce was everything it needed to be oozey and unctious.

For three courses each, my upgraded steak and an extra glass of wine for me our bill came to just over £60 (including a service charge) which I think was incredible value for money.
