Chilli Padi | Newcastle | Review

 

Nestled in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, Chilli Padi is a unassuming restaurant serving up a vibrant explosion of Pan-Asian and Malaysian flavors. 

Whether you're a seasoned spice aficionado or a curious newcomer to the world of fiery curries and fragrant noodles, Chilli Padi has something to tantalize your taste buds. 

The menu brims with classic dishes like aromatic rendang, silky smooth laksa, and wok-tossed stir fries, all bursting with fresh ingredients and bold, authentic flavours, it's no wonder this eatery has become a local favourite. 

But Chilli Padi is more than just a heat seeker's paradise. The restaurant also offers a selection of milder options, like fragrant coconut curries and vegetable-packed stir-fries, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate.

For our starter we decided to share the Salt and Chilli Calamari. We're please we decided to split it as this is a masive portion. 

The pieces of squid are huge and coated in an amazing cripy batter, they're then tossed in Chilli Padi's special salt and chilli spices. 

This one is not for the faint hearted as it of is the spicier salt and chilli dishes we have had but it is also one of the tastiest.

Sam had been told by a few friends who had already visited to try the Smoked Chicken. This dish is chicken strips coated in garlic, spring onions, birds eye chilli and sugar. 

This was everything Sam hoped it would be, succulent chicken with an almost syrupy coating which makes them so good.

Another generous porton but because they are so incredibly moreish we were able to polished them off between us.

One of my favourite curries is a Rendang so when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to order it. This rich and buttery curry with melt in the mouth beef has deep flavours from an unctious sauce which packs a punch of heat.

This is without doubt the best curry I have ever had and possibly one of dishes of any kind I have had.

Beyond the culinary fireworks, Chilli Padi shines with its attentive service and exceptional value. The staff's passion for their cuisine is infectious, and their recommendations never missed the mark. 

We should have listened our waiter who warned us about the portion sizes and tried to steer us towards smaller plates as by the end of the meal we were both so full but it was worth it for such a spectarular meal.

When we went the restaurant was full but we never felt like we we're forgotten about and our waiter was very attentive. 

Chilli Padi delivers a fiery punch of flavour without sacrificing on authenticity or atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned spice seeker or a curious newcomer, Chilli Padi is well worth the trip.
